I received Shauna Palmer's book for this exchange when I got home from vacation, and I wanted to share the beautiful work in it before I dived in and added to it - enjoy! Lenna

Pilar's Book: Rock Stars

The theme for my book is Rock Stars. Considering the book, which will house this group's alterings is a beat up copy of a Metallica bio I saved from the trash of Barnes and Noble, the theme seemed appropriate. I decided to incorporate groups and musicians I am quite fond of for my introduction spreads. The first page is The Smiths. The page was created from photocopies of the band, gel pens and 7 gypsies gaffer tape. The second page is Nine Inch Nails. I made this page from paper I altered with stencils and vintage wallpaper. The third page is The White Stripes made with decorative paper, stamps, stencils, acrylic paint and ephemera.

Lenna's Book: Love Letters

Hello! It has taken me some time to post photos of my book because I continued to get ideas and wanted to do yet another spread in my own book before sending it off! My hope is that all of the participants; Shauna, Ann, Linda, Cynthia and Pilar can add scans or photos of their own artwork in our books to this blog. If that is not possible for them, I will play 'catch up' (or anyone in the exchange could) by scanning the artwork as it moves along through the RR. Without any further adieu, here are lots of photos from my 'Love Letters' book for the ABR RR; I did four spreads plus the intro/sign-in and cover . . . I just could not help myself! This book contains copies of actual love letters; I will also show you a sample page. The cover had a book jacket which I removed. I cut out one of the images and one of the love notes from the jacket and attached directly to the cover, and used StazOn inks for stamping.

The sign-in page. Click on the photos for a better look.

Sample page from the book with a copy of a love letterwritten by John Keats.

Lenna's 2nd spread includes an email from her husband Steven in response to a postcard she sent him when they were courting . . . .

The 3rd spread reflects upon lenna's marriage to john foster from 1978 to 2004 and their two children.

There are cards and letters from the past in each envelope. You can click on any photo for a more detailed view.

The 4th and last spread contains a Thanksgiving card with a romantic photo of steve and lenna that we sent to ourselves just to have a record of it. It was really a love letter to our family, celebrating that we found each other and how thankful we were. There is also a hand drawn card by steven to lenna as well as and an old french postcard with a note in french on the back.

If you have any questions on how I did anything, please leave me a note in the comments section and I will get back to you as soon as I can. I will be away from my computer July 14th - 22nd, but look forward to finding Shauna's book in my mailbox when I get home. whew!

Welcome!

Welcome to the Altered Books Revisited Round Robin blog! wow, that's a mouthful to say. How about ABR RR blog for short? As the hostess, I've had this webspace set up for about a week now, but haven't posted anything yet as I am still working on finishing my book. I've decided instead to jump in and simply tell you about my book first, before I share any pics! My theme is 'Love Letters' and I have taken a book by the same title, cut out some of the pages, created a sign-in page for all the artists here, written an introduction & altered the cover, phew! But it's all good fun and I look forward to altering a page or two as well. If anyone in the group is ready to share anything here, please do! Let me know if you have any questions. I will be back with scans of my book . . . and remember that our first mailing date is JULY 15th!
creatively yours, lenna
